Hazel began working for the scheme as Marketing and Development Officer in 2012. She has worked in music education as a Head of Department and as an instrumental teacher, both privately and in schools, since leaving university with a B.Mus (Hons) degree and PGCE in Music.
"Working for the Benslow Music Instrument Loan Scheme is an extremely rewarding experience for me as a musician and a teacher. I have first hand experience of the difference that playing on a high quality instrument can make for a young player borrowing instruments from the scheme. It is very exciting to realise that by helping them in this way you can change their lives."
Hazel has a performance diploma on the piano, has examined for Music A Level performance, teaches academic music to A Level, the violin, viola and piano privately, and has tutored on the viola for the National Children's Orchestras of Great Britain. She was previously the Orchestral Manager for the Kent County Youth Orchestra and Kent String Orchestra.
Married, with one son, Hazel enjoys learning Italian, reading, dress making, embroidery and quilting, cooking, gardening, theatre, cycling and walking, and is an opera 'Nut'.
