Please Read The Following Important Information

Instruments we lend

Please note that our stocks of woodwind instruments and harps are limited.

Please be aware that the situation can change quite rapidly, especially at certain times of the year.

Download and read the Terms and Conditions and Additional Explanatory Notes carefully and in full.

It is vital that you ask if anything in them needs clarification.

Document requirements:

Please submit scans or photographs of the documents. These must be Jpeg or PDF files. Files over 400kb cannot be accepted.

Statements

Have the following statements ready to paste into the application form:

Guarantors - please use this space to tell us about the student, where they play, about their achievements and aspirations.

Students – we would like to know about your love for music and the instrument, the sort of music and sounds you want to create and how a better instrument could help you;

Teachers – please tell us about the Student’s ability, potential, technique, attitude to practice and what type of instrument/sound/style of instrument might help them to improve and progress.

What Happens Next

When you have submitted your application, you will be directed to a page telling you that it has been successfully submitted.

You will then receive an automated email reply which will give you a reference and instructions of how to upload your supporting video.

Please check your Junk Mail or Spam Folder if you do not receive this email. If you do not receive it at all, please use the Contact Us form to alert us to this and we will reply at the earliest opportunity.

Supporting Video

A short supporting video of approximately 1-2 minutes maximum length of the Student playing on their current instrument is extremely helpful and sufficient. This video is used solely as part of the application process for the purpose of helping to determine the most suitable level and type of instruments to prepare for the Student to try out from the collection. It will only be viewed by Benslow ILS staff and will not be shared, viewed or broadcast without the express written permission of the Student and Guarantor. It will be stored securely in accordance with our privacy policy and with GDPR.

Please note that we only accept video recordings.

A simple video recording made at home or during a lesson, with or without accompaniment, on an iPhone, iPad, Smartphone or using a digital camera will be very suitable.

Please aim to record something that the student can play with a good degree of confidence; perfection and difficulty of the piece are not important, enthusiasm and love for the instrument are.

Approval

As soon as your application has been approved we will email you. When we have a suitable selection of instruments available you will receive a letter inviting you to make an appointment to visit us.

Please note that there may be a waiting list for some instruments.
