Long-standing and dedicated Benslow Governor Jean Harris came for a very special afternoon tea; after many years of playing and loving the violin given to her by her mother, she decided that it was time to lend the instrument to a young musician and to help to inspire the next generation of young players who apply to Benslow each year.

Lending the instrument to the Scheme, supporting young musicians and allowing her violin to be played regularly is extremely important to Jean. Jean will keep in touch with us, and as with anyone lending an instrument through Benslow, we will keep her fully updated with whichever borrower choses her violin, and their progress.

It was a very happy afternoon despite the tinge of sadness for Jean who will be 97 in November. The violin has been a huge part of her life and it was sad for her to leave it with us; her confidence in the Scheme and its benefit to young musicians is so strong that she was able to overcome her sadness in the knowledge that her violin will be safe, loved and played very often.
